| 28.11.2005 Sweet fucking Mary and Joseph. I'm so fucked, man, so totally fucked..! While I've been partying away in Imatra, a few important things happened that I failed to notice and / or attend. First of all, we had a meeting with our group on Friday and Monday. Both of which I failed to attend, making my scant group meeting attendance record even worse. That earned me a nice e-mail, titled, somewhat melodramatically, "How can you?". One of our team members really blew her sprocket and wrote this wildly accusative thing that, while generally right, was a tad on the personal side and a little bit too, how would I put it, intense for the subject. My girlfriend figures its cos she's a chick and she needed to vent. As good an explanation as any. They already complained to the teachers about my lack of project responsibilities. Man, I hate group work. Doesn't help that some of my team mates are not exactly the sharpest pencils in the box. We traded a few letters, since I didn't want to grovel, and now it seems that grovel I must. Oh well. I'll put on my best shit-eating grin and stick it out. Or lick it out, more like. The other important thing I forgot about is that we have an exam on "Introduction to Business Administration" tomorrow. The course is ridiculously simple, naturally, but is also fairly encompassing since it spans two periods. It also gives you a lot of credits if you complete it. So there is a lot of material to cover, and I haven't studied it at all. Looks like I'm fucked. I think there is going to be a re-examination later, but I am not 100% certain. So to sum things up once again, I'm fucked. Utterly penetrated. Life suddenly ceased being good, all shattered in a blink of an eyelid. To add some more melodrama to the situation, I would like to compare it to a train wreck. This post was supposed to be more cheerful, since I was going to write a bit about my trip to Imatra, but I can't really be bothered to do so now, for obvious reasons. Let me just say that it was quite a bit of fun, and that I hope they are not going to make us pee in a cup at school. So yeah... I will now sign off. Leaving you a few links, as usual. An interesting list of crappy cars. I don't quite understand how they fit in Citroën 2CV, since it was an immense success. Oh, and how about some commercials for some ancient computers? The guy on the last pic is my hero! Those days of wizardry are all but gone now... For something completely different now: check out the range of Paris Hilton's facial expressions. |

| 24.11.2005 Oh boy! I'm off to Imatra tomorrow! I think this must be the first time in almost a year, no? Help me out here, dear friend from the north. Anyway, I am going there to honor the passing of years of my good old friend. The bastard is turning 26, past the big 1/4 of a century now... So I'll embark on a road trip with Moishe, and will hopefully be in Imatra after about 2 and a half hours of driving. Although they did mention that the roads are gonna be slippery... But no matter. Today I've been getting my friend some birthday presents. Considering my limited funds, I did manage to procure some fun stuff, at least in my opinion. Although I did mutilate one of the presents while packing it, but I guess that might come as an added bonus. Adding a personal touch. Right? In any case, as you might have noticed, the text is coming out somewhat forcedly... I am not all that keen on writing now, but the sense of duty compels. I wasted a lot of time playing BF2 again, with my friends. In case you're a fellow player, here you can check my stats. I should really be packing now, doing the dishes and going to bed. There's still school to go to tomorrow morning. So let me recap my comings and goings over the past two days... This one is just for my failing memory's sake, you don't have to read any further. I finally met my mother yesterday, after not seeing her for over a week, or something. Mothers tend to get whiny and petulant when not met and listened to for a while. At least mine does. So I let her take me to a Chinese restaurant and feed me till I was ready to burst. I also allowed her to foot the bill. Incidentally, a friend of a friend was working there. She told us that there's only like a couple of real Chinese people working in the restaurant, the rest being from Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines... And god knows what other Asian bum hole countries. Just as I suspected all along. I'm so fucking sharp that I cut myself, sometimes... I also managed to have a nice stroll around the Christmas-lit downtown, while waiting for the one that spawned me. The pic of the day is a product of that amble. The air was crisp and cool, the images sharp and the lights warm and beckoning. Today it was all school and then home. Nothing special at all, except that I sort of drank some more wine at home, partly shared with Bonus... Ah, me old stinky wino. But moderation is the key, so I try to "keep it real". Oh, to top this post of with an irrelevant personal detail, I scored 42 WPM in a TypingMaster test today. Net, not gross. I managed to make exactly 666 mistakes in 47 min. 39 sec. Creepy..! Ok, I should really be getting things done now, so I bid you adieu, and leave you the following links to consider. First of all, in honor of the birthday boy, a great joke animated in flash. In Russian only, by the way. I am sure you've seen it before, but I get a kick out of every time I listen to it. To continue the birthday theme, you can now find out what song was on the top of the charts in US or UK on the day you were born. My results: "Call me" by Blondie in US and Lexy's Midnight Runners by Geno in UK. Geno? Last but not least, a great card tossing game. Love the graphics. |

| 22.11.2005 You know, there is never enough wine when you really need it. Or really want it, at any rate. Here I am now, sober and lacking in wine. Which is probably good, in the long run, but not as satisfying as having too much and hugging the toilet for the rest of the night. You see, I followed my heart today and did what I wanted to do for a while now. I got a bottle of white wine (A medium sweet Spanish Rioja Diamante, Cosecha 2004. Whatever that means) and headed off home. Prior to that I unwittingly divulged my plans to a couple of classmates. Girly classmates to be precise. The only kind I have in my school, basically. They were horrified. Well, maybe not horrified. Something less drastic, but shocked none the less. How could I drink a bottle of wine all by myself? I'd be plastered and totally incapacitated, laying soiled with my feces on the couch and drowning in my own vomit! That's what they said. I was alarmed by this, since it's been a while since I've drank white wine straight, as in without beer and vodka thrown in for good measure. What if, I thought, white wine posessed the power to seriously fuck me up when enjoyed as such? Well, bollocks. A bottle down, and I am still straight as a whistle, or sound as a whistle (?). That's the last time I take advice on matters related to alcohol from my feminine classmates. I should remember that the majority of the fair sex out there is made out of frail creatures barely able to survive a liter of wine. I guess I've lived with my demon spawn of a girlfriend for so long that I started to think that all people of female persuasion have a vagina dentata, severe mental problems, glowing red eyes and are able to down a few liters of vodka without major physical consequences. So in the end I ended up having a good time, coming home, making a couple of sandwiches, turning off the lights... And lighting a few candles. So lovely. Dark outside, cozy glow of the candles & monitor... An hour or so catching up with the world events and then I was drawn into the Battlefield 2 universe with a couple of buddies, for about 4 hours. That was more fun than it sounds, since we were all connected through Ventrilo, a program enabling audio linkup. Meaning that we were able to talk to each other. Ah, what great adventures we've had together, all from the comfort of my new 50 Eur armchair... Oh yeah, while in town I also bought the new book by Richard Morgan, Woken Furies. The guy is a great Sci-Fi writer, but he should just stick to what he knows best and not write any more pretentious novels like Market Forces. Ok, now the demon spawn woke up and wants me to stop typing and go to bed. Fine. As a parting gift I leave you this great photo gallery by Nienke Klunder. |

20.11.2005 Oi oi oi! Madre con dios! Jesus H. Christ! Over a month! Over a bloody month! What a dark day period for humanity it has been indeed. I am kicking myself repeatedly over this, rest assured. I mean, this has never happened for so long before. And right after I seemed to be getting things back on track. No, sirs and madams. This should have never been let to pass. I will now try to make amends. The reason for my prolonged absence? As if I ever needed a reason. I have discovered Battlefield 2, that's true. I'm a bloody Staff Sergeant already. And then there's Civilization IV (here's a game guide, btw)... But the main reason seems to be that I am tired of mucking about with my primitive WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) HTML editor just to make a simple entry. I want one of them server side blogging engines like Movable Type (not a typo) or Nucleus. Just like a real blogger. I just don't know whether my server supports MySQL or not, or what version of PERL it has installed, and besides I generally lack any talents when it comes to the technical side of site maintenance. So I need your help with that... Any volunteers would be much appreciated. So appreciated, in fact, that I'll even pay in booze, say a bottle of your choice from Alko. Price ceiling - 25 Eur. That means that I won't be accepting any anonymous people from "Teh Intarweb", more like some tech-savvy friend/acquaintance that happens to read this blog. Ah yes, it would be so nice to be able to blog from anywhere. Imagine, I could blog from abroad! And have proper comments that don't wipe themselves after the 200th entry. And to actually have a design and not something that looks like its been thought up in a HTML workshop for senior citizens. Ahem. So hey, if you want to help out, just say so in the comments. As for me... Well, life has been good to me lately. For no reason in particular. I enjoy my school, the people are great, the studies are excruciatingly effortless, and I have a 3 day study week. I also get free money for being a student, so that means I don't really have to work. Which is nice. I am a thrifty bugger, so the lack of pesos doesn't bother me mucho. There has been a lot going on, both in my life and in the world, stuff worth blogging about, and I am really ticked off that I have been neglecting to do so. I mean, I could have ranted for pages about the French Intifada alone! But yeah. Instead of writing a tedious update about the stuff I've done, like finally lifting & covering my boat, or breaking my armchair and buying a new one, I'll end this post with a pledge to seize this criminal neglect of my blogging duties, and another plea for some technical assistance. Ok, now that I've finally updated the friggin blog, its time for some linksies. Unfortunately, my huge collection of interesting links that I've amassed during the blogging break has been destroyed by my HD going crappo on me, but I am sure I can dredge up something or other... Like this site with freeware games. Mario was nice. Or you could test which teletubby you are. I turned out to be bloody Dipsy. Worst online "quiz/test" ever. And now you can brush up on your knowledge of beer coasters from all over the world. And now its nighty night time. Well, maybe after some well-deserved pornographic goodness! |
