| 31.03.2005 Oh boy. This seems to have been the longest break in my blogging career to date! For those not in the know, the reason for my prolonged absence is our move to a new flat, which cut us off from the net for 2 hellish weeks! It was almost as bad as waiting for a new fucking connection to be activated, and that after we notified our provider, Elisa, 2 weeks in advance before the move! Lazy fucking cunts..! Anyway, the move went ok, except for the part where me & my friend had to drag our bed to the sixth floor. That really fucked our backs, and nearly did us both in. Never again! We're throwing the old piece of shit out of the window instead of dragging it down when we move again. But enough of this negative shit. Other than the obvious physical drawbacks, the move went great. But who gives a fuck about the move anyway! The big thing here is our awesome new flat! It has exactly the same area as our old one, but the planning is infinitely better, we even have a bar! Not to mention hardwood floor! Oh baby..! The whole place is an epitome of coziness, especially after the unabridged horror of our previous place. And it's getting better all the time. Why, just yesterday I bought myself a new, awesome black leather computer chair! I've proudly christened it "Masturbo 2000"... So we are doing great, as you can see. However, that is not all. No Sir! Another piece of startling news: our family has received an addition! Our ranks are swelling like a decomposing whale carcass! With this pleasant mental image in mind, let me introduce you to our new member of the family, Nuni! That's her on two of the pictures of the day to the right. Nuni is a short-haired Chihuahua, and a young one at that, having been born on the 20th of January, 2005. The reason she joined us is that my girlfriend is a friggin animal nut. She is completely bonkers, I'm telling you. We already have 2 cats, for fucks sake! But there is no stopping her, oh nooo... I guess this is just her way of compensating for not having children. You know, the biological clock and all... And we're not particularly fond of chillun, so we're getting flooded with pets instead. Oh shit, I'm getting late for my gym, gotta run! (An hour later) Ok, me back from the gym! In case you're wondering what the hell is wrong with me, I might remind you that I started working out a couple of weeks ago, aiming for nicer body by the summer. Today was my 6th time in the gym. I am incredibly proud of myself, as you can probably tell. Still, even after a whopping 6 times at the gym I am not much buffer... Damn. I will soon start losing my motivation here... Anyway, this will have to do for my first blog post in over 2 weeks. Now for some links! Due to me still struggling with choosing a name for my boat (any suggestions are still welcome in the comments), I searched around a lot of Tolkien fan sites and accidentally came up with this Lord of the Rings personality test, according to which I am most akin to Barliman Butterbur and Sam. Weird... You can also test your knowledge on all matters LOTR with this extensive quiz. Oh, and take the Geek Purity Test while you're at it. I'm 72% Geek pure, in other words I'm only 28% geek. |

14.03.2005 I promised to reveal something startling in the previous post, didn't I? Yeah... And I think I promised to do it yesterday. Oh well, better late than never, I guess! So, without any further ado, here goes. I bought a boat! Yessir! I bought myself a little yacht! My own private, 23 foot pocket cruiser! This is a major event in my life, seeing as I've been dreaming of owning a sail boat since I've been 8... So now, 17 years later, I finally bought a used 1977 Helmsman 23 (info sheet & pictures of other Helmsman 23's)for 4.600 Eur. I believe I'm the boat's 4th owner. Oh, and I will post proper pictures, and will probably devote a whole section of this site to it, as soon as I get the boat from under the tarp and into the water... I've gotta say though, this whole boat-buying thing has been a somewhat scary experience, really. I got the cash partly from my own savings and partly from my parents, so I was really careful not to spend it on something that would prove to be a piece of useless shit, as I had more than myself to answer to. Then there's the whole element of buying something this big (for lack of a better word) and in need of loving care and maintenance. Will I prove to be a careful and diligent boat owner? And then, at least for me, there's a sense of taking an important, irreversible step into unknown. Who knows, maybe, even despite my somewhat broad sailing experience, this whole boat thing will not prove to be a good idea. Maybe I will not enjoy it as much as I have in my (perhaps a bit over-romanticized?) day-dreams. Sigh. I guess the following path of reason is the best I can do: if I wouldn't have bought the boat I would have never found out for sure, and, many years from now, would still be dreaming of the wide blue seas, but secretly too afraid to take the plunge. I now took the chance and seized the dream. if all goes well, this will be but the beginning... In other news, we'll be moving the day after tomorrow! I checked out the place today, got the keys, and helped install our new fridge, which is approximately twice the capacity of our old piece of shit. So tomorrow will have to be the "official" packing day, since there is still tons and tons of crap left to pack... Oh, and I think I could be cut off from the net for as much as a week when we move, since Elisa, my Internet provider, is sure to take its sweet time switching the connection from our old flat to the new. And now let me announce a little something I had in mind... Since the boat is still unnamed, as I have no intention in keeping its old name, you get the chance to pick a new name for it! So please leave your suggestion for a name in the comments below... And who knows, it might grace the proud prow of my yacht! It's time for the links, methinks. You could learn a few handy every day Latin phrases by heart, and "impress" your friends, as you nonchalantly drop a few of them while delicately waving a champagne glass in your hand. That same champagne glass that will no doubt be forcefully rammed up your rectum if you try "impressing" your friends more than once. And while we are on a linguistic path, let me show you what fun can be had with Google's translation tool. All sort of gibberish can be summoned by translating from one language to another and then back. And I'm out. Blame my provider if I don't update for a week. Or my untimely demise, in which case you're all invited to the funeral. |

12.03.2005 These few days have been interesting, in their own way. The main point of interest I cannot as yet divulge, as it is going to be an earth shattering piece of news! At least in my opinion. Frankly, other than the still secret item over which I am all abuzz, there has been precious little to get excited over. We are in a process of moving to our new flat, but that's old news. I received my pathetic salary (not going to go into details, but it's somewhat under a 1000 Eur...), and it's going to be gone next Monday, since I have to pay my part of a down payment for our new place. So no, not much there to get excited over. Oh, except one thing. I failed to note that I've practically turned over a new leaf in my life! Today was the first time I've properly worked out at the gym, ever (I think?)! Yep, we sorta had this agreement with my friend that we reached the day before, that we are going to work out. There was a lot of snickering and derisive comments, but today we actually went off and worked up a proper sweat. I can already feel some muscle ache. And that's not all! We are also doing a weekly swimming pool thing, too. Already did it last week, so tomorrow is going to be the second time we're going swimming. The whole idea is to lose a few kilos from all the wrong places and gain some muscles in all the right places. I am going to be a regular Adonis by the summer..! Oh yeah. I even took a pic of myself as I am now, so as to compare it to a pic of myself in three months. Also measured my exact weight. Turned out to be a whopping 81Kg! With my 172Cm height it's already counted as being overweight, as my body mass index is 27,4. You can calculate yours here. Ok, now Bonus has come to pick me up, will probably go and chill somewhere for a little while. Will get back to you tomorrow to report on that sensational thing I've been talking about. And since I can't leave without some links, here's a pretty girl, Koika (here's another gallery of her if you liked her) Interesting name. Means "bunk" in Russian, btw. Coincidence? Perhaps. And since it's been a while since I posted anything even vaguely pornographic on the site, instead of posting tons of single gallery links I give you Bad Girls Blog. Tons of very nekkid nubile maidens. Or so I'm told, since I would never visit a site of ill repute like that one! Ok, me over and out. |

10.03.2005 Wow! It's already been 5 days! Incredible... I've been so lazy, meh. But at the same time I've been quite busy, as you will soon see. Although if it wasn't for my friend from the north, who called and guilt-tripped me into writing, it would have taken me another few days to conjure up an entry. Yes. As I've said, I've been somewhat busy (by my standards, that is). The DOD (department of defense) order that I have been lethargically doing for the past month or so has finally reached the deadline. That is, the salesman in charge of the order came up to me and said: "by the way, the order is going to be finished on Friday". I just said, "It is !?". And he said "Yes.". So I pretty much quadrupled my work pace, resulting in quite a bit of stress and, surprisingly, a little bit of work satisfaction. And so, today I finished the last remaining DOD order. And suddenly found myself to be in a void filled with meaningless tasks once again. I swear I will complete my education one of these days, just to get away from the menial tasks I have to do on a day to day basis. The other reason for the lack of blog updates is "Half-Life 2". I brought a pirated copy from Moscow, although at first I didn't wanna install it, fearing that my crappy system (AMD 2300+ XP, 512RAM, 150Gb HD, Radeon 9600SE) would be too slow to properly run it. But lo and behold! It works just fine on low graphics settings, without losing any of the gameplay value. Definitely worth a try, If your system can take it. But do be prepared for a few lost workdays... That was about it. I can't really recall anything else of any importance that happened during the past five days, so I will now conclude the post with a bit of linkage... This linkdump will consist of games, mostly. First a cool game of, ahem, moving cubes. Fun, trust me. Although I got no further than level 13. Then a rope-pulling game. Simple at first, harder later. I managed to get 1min 43sec and 20somethings. Lastly, one of those gay-tests. I got 43%, meaning that I am a well balanced young heterosexual male. Heh. |

05.03.2005 I've just came back from that dazzling jewel of old Mother Russia, Moscow! Well, to tell the truth, I came back yesterday, but was too lazy to write an entry. As you can probably gather from the starting sentence, I've rather enjoyed my short stay. The reason, as I can now tell you, for my sudden departure was simple. I was to take 33,000$ to my dad's partners. In other words, smuggle this wad of cash over the border. I am not sure what would have happened to me had I been caught, but I'm sure it wouldn't have been anything fun. So yeah, I guess I did take some risks... And I wasn't even paid for it, except some pocket cash (~100 Eur) for my stay in Moscow, of which I managed to save 50 Eur. But what wouldn't one do for one's famiglia, eh? However, despite the risks, I was grateful for a chance to explore Moscow for a few hours, and just for the change of landscape. I quickly handed over the cash to dad's partner, and after that had about 10 hours to kill. It was freezing, but at least sunny. I was dropped off at the Tverskoy Boulevard, a famous shopping & recreational street, and spent a few hours just ambling along it, occasionally stopping for a bit of book-shopping. I eventually grew tired, and sat down in a conveniently placed Pizza Hut (of all places!), for a bit of a "light" snack. A medium pizza, a beer, ice cream and a coke only set me back 440 Rur! Plus the service was great. That's the thing about Moscow, they are really learning the true value of good service, which unfortunately can't be said about the rest of Russia (even St. Petersburg is lagging behind). Oh yeah, just wanted to say, there was one difficulty that was sort of trying: I had an urge to smoke a cig throughout my stay in Moscow. See, most of the men in Russia smoke, and so do a lot of women. I've quit smoking on 02.10.2004, so I'm still not out of the woods yet, with dreams of smoking still haunting my sleep. Besides, when I last visited Moscow I was a chain smoker. So now in my mind Moscow is forever associated with the sweet joy of smoking. This time I managed to stay off the nicotine, if not THC, so perhaps I will continue to do so in the future... After filling my gut with junk food, I decided to contact my cousin (thrice removed), who lives quite close to Tverskoy, and whom I have not seen for a few years. Man, that guy is one fucked up dope-fiend. If there is anything that can be snorted, swallowed, smoked or fixed, he's done it. Otherwise he's quite ok and fun to hang around with, if you ignore the fact that his interests revolve mostly around drugs. So we went to his place, listened to some music, he took some meth, we listened to some more weird ass music, he (well, me too...) smoked some weed to mellow out, and we went for a brisk walk to visit his brother that I haven't seen for a long time either. And to score some more dope, as it turned out. And that was how I almost missed my train... But I caught a "cab", paid 200 Rur (the guy asked for 100 but was great company and an even better driver), and made it to the "Leningradskij Vokzal" train station just in time. And as I was about to kick back in my cabin, a throng of screaming kids, aged about 11 to 13, ran into the wagon with all sorta wintery equipment, banging about, laughing, fighting, arguing... Horrible. Apparently the wagon I was in was hosting a school trip. Yay. At least they didn't place any of the monstrous kids into my cabin. Instead I got to sleep with three charming young women, two of them teachers with the class, and one some sort of a designer working in Finland. Poor girls... I think I snored all through the night. Anyway, the trip back was uneventful, and I slept through most of it in any case. I am pretty sure I'll come back in the spring, when it's a bit warmer. I might even bring girlie along, if she behaves... Although she'll sure put a damper on my sampling of the local hooker populace. So that concludes our Moscow special. I'll now proceed to sprinkle some links. First, here's a short photo reportage on how they make bogus Pepsi (and cola drinks generally) down in the 3rd world. They used to do the same shit in souther Russia not that long ago. And on a lighter note, here's a bunch of bored US soldiers having fun in Iraq (video). And last but most definitely not least, a gallery of great photos. Hard to describe, really. Some aerial, some landscape, but all awesome. The site is in Korea, so there might be slight traffic issues... |

02.03.2005 I'm about to embark on an epic journey, albeit somewhat unwillingly. I've just found out that I'm going to Moscow in about an hour. Dad has some business to take care of there, and since he can't get a visa due to his passport being renewed, I have to go on his behalf. Since he figures I'll be least likely to fuck him over. This way I'll make some cash and get to go to Moscow for a while. Beats working, I guess. In any case, I will only have about 6 - 8 (not sure yet) hours in Moscow. Thing is, I've had a real shitty day so far. It started with the bureaucratic idiocy I encountered in Bilia when I came to pick up a rental car (turned out to be moderately shitty Renault Scenic, although it's packed with all the extras) to replace the company car that was vandalized (see post below). Nobody knew anything. I mean, there is no communication between employees in that company. To get what you want you'll have to remember the name of some minor microserf and, preferably, a complicated handshake with a wink thrown in. Then, maybe, your request will get processed. Otherwise the person behind the desk will just stare at you blankly and say "Sorry Sir, I see no mention about it in our computers". The computers in question might as well be fucking turned off, because no-one apparently stores any customer information in them. Phew. See? That's how pissed off I was. Then there's work. Nothing particularly ghastly per se, just the fact of work itself. Especially after that Bilia experience that was supposed to be the epitome of customer service but instead turned out to be a form of cruel and unusual torture. I was so reluctant to complete the DOD (department of defense) order that I started doodling on the boxes that were going to be shipped to some barracks located somewhere in a strategic bumfuckville, Lapland. I drew them a nice mountain landscape, as seen on the picture of the day. I even colored in the moon with liquid paper! Hopefully they will appreciate my selfless art and will refrain from complaining to my employers. After that momentary reprise it was all downhill, as I developed a rapidly worsening case of "work rage". When it got bad enough that I was worried I'd pop a vein in my head, I stormed off home. Fuck work. So now I'm getting ready for Moscow. Will pack a few books for the trip there and back, and that's about it. It must have been ages since I've been there, for I don't think I even had a blog back then. Too bad it's only a half a day visit, with the rest of my time spent in the train (called Tolstoy, btw)... Although I do love trains. In any case, don't expect me back before the 4th of March. I will bring back many a photo, unless I forget or lose my camera! Now I really have to run, so no fucking links. Get over it. Or read this (very) short history of Moscow. |
