Painful walkabout

Today was my second day off from work. I barely slept last night, what with all the bleeding and hurting, finally nodding off at 5am, thanks be to the painkillers. Funny thing, they lowered my body temp to 34.2C. And I even checked that on 3 different thermometers. That felt rather cold. Not hot, like when body temp is in its 35’s. Funny. . Anyway, I’ll be a little more rambly today, and will probably make a little less sense than usual, that’s just how fucked up I feel. My painkillers and antibiotics, coupled with a rising fever, do away with whatever shreds of clarity I have left after years on various antidepressants. So hmm, girly had her friend over for group work today, and I decided to give the girls some privacy and have a stroll in town, get some groceries, eat an ice cream, shop a little, you know, the whole 9 urban yards.

Drove there, grudgingly paid 10€ for the parking, ambled about the Kamppi shopping mall, and realised that somehow, without even converting to the loathsome Left Side, I have alienated myself from all that wanton consumerism. So I slouched about, had a raspberry milk shake to go at the Valio Milkbar (did you know that you get taxed less on your restaurant purchase if you take it with you? Its true. Magical!), and walked along the Mannerheimintie, Helsinki’s main street. Pretty dull, all in all, but nice and refreshin on the other hand. Plus the cold Autumn air numbed my cheek nicely. To get some nice blog pics I took an elevator ride to the observation deck on top of Hotel Torni, and snapped a few very boring pictures. Helsinki is such a low, boring town. Almost all, if not actually all, buildings really look like they could benefit from a dozen extra floors added on top, at least. And that was it.

I suqueezed into my car, scratching my door and the guys next to me in the process, and drove home, stopping to buy some groceries and liquid plumber on the way, plus picking up a new keyboard from Jimm’s Pc Store. It’s a nice and cheap Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard 3000. Wired, of course, I’m not the one to muck about with the batteries, and vewy vewy quiet. This way my girlfriend can sleep better when I stay up late and hang out with the cool kids on the Global Interwebs. Once I got home I started getting the chills. Grabbed the thermometer, and whaddaya know. 37.5. The drugs didn’t work, so I called the dentist’s office. There I was “reassured” that it would continue hurting like a motherfucker for another week, and that I should just eat my pills, there’s a good boy. The fever got them kinda uncertain, though, so they told me to show up tomorrow if my fever persists. Sigh, and now it seems like it’s not going away any time soon. My ghost teeth are also giving me hell, much worse than yesterday. . So I’ll just wrap myself in a blanket now and watch Simpsons for a while. Maybe finish off all of the Harry Potter movies later. They are so pretty. Or read that book I bought (yes, yes, so I succumbed to the “wanton consumerism” in my own, cheapo way) for 5€ today at a removal sale, “Daily Life in Ancient India, From 200BC to 700AD“.

A light dusting of links before that, though. These “Un-tooned” toons should freak you out. Charlie Brown reminds me of a kid I knew in grade school. Then some awesome billboards, 50 of them. And here I am, can’t even take a good picture for fuck’s sake. Ok, and for that extra geek factor, here are some unanswered (or even unanswerable) questions in geeky movies. Then these Christian games, wow. Simply wow. Ok, my temperature is at a nice 38.2C and rising now, compared to a fairly easy 37.2 at the start of this post, and I am shaking like someone aflicted with both the St.Vitus and MS. Oh, but I absolutely have to add Texts From Last Night before I pass out. It’s awesome. I have sent my fair share, to be sure…
